Katy Perry said she “didn’t really identify with any labels” surrounding sobriety.
The “Teenage Dream” singer, who signed a sober three-month “deal” with fiancee Orlando Bloom in March, is “spoiled” to drink again.
“For me it was an opportunity to reset. We reset after President’s Day and it was a great opportunity to let my body recuperate a bit, Perry told People on Wednesday.
“I’ve had a pretty good relationship with just finding balance.”
The 38-year-old “American Idol” judge stated that he “doesn’t really drink” on weeknights in solidarity with the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor 46.
But on the weekends I’m going to “indulge a bit,” she explained.
“We did it because there’s a movie in London right now that’s getting all the attention, and I wanted this opportunity to be supportive,” Perry continued.
“It’s really hard to do anything, whether it’s a clean or a reset, unless your partner is doing it. So it makes it much easier to do together.”
He likes to have “reset moments”, “even though he doesn’t really identify with any label sober or whatever.”
The “Part Of Me” singer said, “Especially I’m 38, balancing the intensity of my career and having a toddler who loves to run.”
Bloom and Perry have been together since 2016. The couple, who got engaged in 2019, have a child: daughter Daisy Dove, 2.
The actor also shares his ex-wife Miranda Kerr, whom he was married to between 2010-2013, and his 12-year-old son, Flynn.
Perry was previously married to comedian Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012.
In February, Bloom admitted that her relationship could have been “challenging.”
“We are in two very different pools. “His pool is not a pool that I necessarily understand, and I don’t think my pool is a pool that he necessarily understands,” she explained.
“Sometimes things are really, really, really, challenging. I will not lie,” he added.
However, the infamous star said there was “never a dull moment” with Perry and their baby girl.
“We are definitely fighting with our emotions and our creativity. [But] I think we both realize how lucky we are to be uniquely connected as we did back then, and there is absolutely never a dull moment,” she gushed.
