Dan + Shay to Join ‘The Voice’ as Coaches for Season 25

The first red double chair is coming Sound, and Dan + Shay will be sitting in it!


On Thursday, NBC announced that the Grammy-winning country duo will join the hit song contest series as the coaching duo for season 25 next year, along with returning coaches Reba McEntire, John Legend, and Chance the Rapper.


Dan Smyers, 35, and Shay Mooney, 31, had previously Sound They’ll have their own team of hopeful players as Blake Shelton’s war advisers for season 20, but to offer advice for season 25, which will air in the spring of 2024.





Legend, 44, and McEntire, 68, will appear in the red chairs for the second consecutive season, as previously announced as the coaches for season 24, which will air in the fall of 2023. Meanwhile, the 30-year-old Chance the Rapper returns. Sound After his first appearance as a manager in season 23.


Other coaches designated for season 24 include Niall Horan and Gwen Stefani.


The coaching staff changes come after Shelton left the show after 23 seasons. Last month, McEntire spoke with PEOPLE about filling the red chair spot.

“The village strip – I’m replacing Blake, so I’m going to represent country music. [He’s got] big boots I don’t know what size these boots are, but they’re big, so I’m going to work really hard to make him proud,” said Shelton’s McEntire.


He has admitted that Shelton, who will return as manager for the seventh time next season, is in a fierce rivalry with his wife, Stefani. “I realize I had to dazzle while Gwen was there,” McEntire said. “Gwen always has the prettiest outfits, so I really need to step up my game on this one.”


While McEntire is no stranger to the show, he has served as its mega-mentor. Sound For season 23 – the star says she has a lot to do.

“John and Niall [are] it’s all really funny and clever and always has a lot of clever things to say, so my job is perfect for me.” It’s going to get a lot of help, a lot of advice, a lot of people will come and say, ‘You can do this.’ You can do it.’ And I’m not afraid at all. I think it will be a very fun adventure.”


With Dan + Shay joining for season 25, McEntire won’t be the only country star competing. Sound.
