Some of Rod Stewart’s kids want to see the 78-year-old rocker retire.
According to a close family friend, several of the singer’s eight children are encouraging the singer to retire so he can focus on the role of father and grandfather.
“They’re worried about him and want him to throw in the towel on music and retire on his own terms,” an insider said. “His fathers devoted 50 years of his life to music and he has nothing left to prove to anyone.
“Given his health issues and age, a few of Rod’s children feel it’s time to devote a few years to his health and family, especially after the birth of his third grandchild.”
Stewart has eight children aged 59 to 12.
His eldest daughter, Sarah Steele, 59, was adopted by Stewart’s ex-girlfriend Susannah Boffey and was later reunited with her biological father.
He shares his 43-year-old daughter Kimberly and 42-year-old son Sean with ex-wife Alana Stewart and 35-year-old daughter Ruby with ex-girlfriend Kelly Emberg.
Rod’s second marriage to New Zealand-born model Rachel Hunter resulted in 28-year-old son Liam and 31-year-old daughter Renee.
And he shares his two youngest sons, Alaistar, 17, and Aiden, 12, with his wife, Penny Lancaster.
The “Maggie May” rocker will embark on a 40-show world tour starting June 24.
In 2019, Stewart announced that he had successfully waged a secret three-year battle with prostate cancer. He also defeated thyroid cancer in 2000.

And in April 2020, the Grammy-winning actor shared that he underwent knee replacement and ankle fusion surgery after suffering a football injury.
Last month, Stewart became a double grandfather with the birth of two grandchildren, one from daughter Ruby and one from son Liam.
Stewart is also the grandfather of Delilah’s daughter, whom Kimberly shares with actor Benicio Del Toro.
“Rod really doesn’t want to stop and doesn’t know how not to create music. This is her life. He would love to rock forever and he believes his fans need him,” the source explained.
“His family really hopes that once Rod’s tour is over it will be over. They really want it to stick with it.
