Lizzo braved the open-air stage of the 2023 Governors Ball on Friday, despite the “unhealthy” air quality of New York City just days ago.
“In light of all the environmental events and disasters, we need to listen to our First Nations, the indigenous people of this country,” the pop star said, according to USA Today.
“We have to listen to our water keepers because they are trying to make sure we have land to live on. Because (we) love the fresh air.”
After days of smog in the Big Apple due to the ongoing wildfires in Canada, Lizzo, 35, put on an unforgettable show at Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
The “Good As Hell” singer took the stage in a bright pink wig, silver body and matching skirt.
He sang several hits including “Special”, “About Damn Time” and “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)”.
Concert attendees were concerned that the three-day event would be canceled due to the appalling air quality index (AQI) that jumped to 405 on Wednesday – rated as “unhealthy” for all.
