Kelly Ripa narrowly escaped a wardrobe accident before taking the stage – in the same dress she ripped last month.
“There was a small wardrobe emergency backstage! “It was so exciting,” the talk show host told her husband and co-host Mark Consuelos as she messed around with the front of her dress on Wednesday’s episode of “Live.”
“I almost didn’t get out of here!” he cried.
Consuelos, who replaced Ryan Seacrest as Ripa’s co-host in April, joked that he was “wondering how it would go”.
Still trying to tie her pink dress, Ripa playfully said she heard her husband, whom she married in 1996, “clawed” at the dressing room door before the show.
Consuelos, 52, also admitted that she was thinking about how to “extend” the opening of the show to give Ripa, 52, time to join her for filming.

The “Riverdale” star joked that he was “intoxicated with power” at the idea of being able to turn talk shows into “anything” in his wife’s absence.
However, the couple, who shares 25-year-old Michael and 19-year-old Joaquin with their 21-year-old daughter Lola, were able to continue the show smoothly after Ripa recovered from her wardrobe mishap.
While it’s unclear whether the “wardrobe emergency” is related to the pink dress, Ripa faced a similar issue while filming in the same outfit last month.
On April 18, the “Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories” writer’s outfit ripped at his second show with his new co-host while he was learning to dance with Consuelos and “Dancing With The Stars” professionals Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson Chmerkovskiy.
When Consuelos went to sink Ripa into her knee, the seam of her hot pink stencil suddenly opened.
“Is the whole back of my dress ripped off?” ‘ he asked, jumping. “It’s just a breakaway dress!”
Later, her husband reassured her that the dress was “a little” torn as she showed Ripa the string.
“Live with Kelly and Mark” airs weekdays at 9:00 ET on ABC.
