Taylor Swift may be shedding more light on her split from Joe Alwyn earlier this year.
Swift, 33, sings about feeling sick when a relationship crumbles before her eyes in a newly released vault song called “You’re Losing Me.”
He likens himself to “a phoenix that always rises from the ashes and heals all its wounds,” questioning whether he should stay and try to fix the relationship or give it up.
“Do I throw away or keep everything we’ve built? / I’m getting tired,” she sings.
In the chorus, Swift repeats several times, “Stop, you’re losing me,” and “I can’t beat the pulse / My heart is no longer working for you / because you are losing me.”
After the chorus, she sings “My pain is too great an imposition” while continuing to hint at a failed relationship.
“Now you’re running down the aisle / And you know what they’re all saying, ‘You don’t know what you got before you go.'”
After release – closed Midnights (Until Dawn Edition) Fans struggled to make sense of the melancholy lyrics, especially in light of Swift’s split from the 32-year-old actor after dating for more than six years. An insider had previously told PEOPLE that the breakup was due to “differences in their personalities”, which led them to realize they were “not suitable.”

Many fans have compared the somber lyrics to some of Swift’s most romantic songs about falling in love – and she was with Alwyn at the time.
In particular, a lyric from the bridge of the song caught the attention of the fans. The question of whether Swift and Alwyn got married during their relationship had been a source of great speculation, and on the bridge Swift sings, “I’m the best thing at this party (You’re losing me) / And I wouldn’t marry me either.”
In a rare statement about their relationship in 2022, Alwyn said: WSJ Magazine“If I had a pound for every time I thought I was being told I was engaged, then I would have had way too many pounds.”
“So, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn’t say, if the answer was no, I wouldn’t,” he added.
After admitting in the song that she wouldn’t marry him, Swift continues to describe herself as “pathologically pleasing” as she recalls begging her partner to “‘Do something baby, say something'” as their relationship faltered.
While many fans have speculated about the origin of “You’re Losing Me”, Swift has moved on in the months since her split from Alwyn.
She’s been linked to fellow musician Matty Healy from The 1975 in recent weeks, and the couple was last seen kissing on a night out in New York City on Wednesday.
Healy, 34, has also participated in many of Swift’s final stops on The Eras Tour and is supporting her from the crowd. She even took the stage a few times to perform with Phoebe Bridgers, a close friend and one of Swift’s opening performances.
Despite recent relationship changes, the singer-songwriter told viewers on last week’s Foxborough, Massachusetts show that she had “never been this happy.”

“You’re Losing Me” is the second of Swift’s two new albums, but only appears on a special CD sold this weekend in East Rutherford, New Jersey. released on friday Midnights (Until Dawn Edition)featuring a new song called “Hits Different”, which previously appeared as a Target-only track.
He also released newer versions of “Karma” and “Snow on the Beach”, two of the album’s original songs. On “Karma” rapper Ice Spice joined Swift, while on “Snow on the Beach” he expanded on Lana Del Rey’s feature on the original version of the album. “You asked for it, we listened: Lana and I came back to the studio to record more Lana specifically on ‘Snow on the Beach,'” Swift wrote on Instagram while announcing the new album.
As for her collaboration with Ice Spice, the “Maroon” singer has described herself as “a huge fan of this brilliant artist, and after getting to know her I can confirm: THE ONE TO WATCH”.
