That’s the age-old question: chicken or fish?
Posing in front of a mural in Nashville, Jessica Simpson teased her then-husband Nick Lachey on an episode of reality shows when he infamously asked her if a bowl of Chicken of the Sea tuna was chicken or fish. Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica.
Simpson, 42, posted a photo on Instagram Thursday with the message “open your wings” in front of a mural decorated with two chicken legs in the shape of butterfly wings. In the caption, referring to his question in the 2003 episode, “Are these wings pork or chicken?”
At that moment in the premiere episode of the reality show, 49-year-old Lachey asked, “Is this chicken or this fish I have?”
“I know it’s tuna, but it says chicken by the sea. Is that silly? What’s the name – by the sea or by the sea?”
Lachey looked at his then-wife with a puzzled expression on her face. “Chicken Sea is a brand,” he said. “You know, because a lot of people eat tuna, just as a lot of people eat chicken. Sea Chicken.”
Simpson eventually got it, but the interaction was a moment the singer and fashion designer could never live through.
It’s a joke he occasionally returns, as he did on Instagram on Thursday.
In 2016, she posted a meme showing a photo of a chicken swimming in the ocean, “Maybe Jessica Simpson was up to something?”
It read “#Chickenofthesea” next to the breast.
He and Lachey broke up shortly after the reality show ended in 2005, and he pursued his TV career while taking several hosting gigs. She hosted NBC. Singing From 2009 to 2014, he hosted Netflix with his wife, Vanessa Lachey. Love is blind and its by-product, Ultimatum: Marry or Move on.
Simpson married former NFL player Eric Johnson, whom she met in 2010 and married in 2014. The couple has three children: daughters Maxwell, 10, and Birdie Mae, 4, and son, Ace, 9.

In April, she told PEOPLE that she and her husband have always “grown up” and that “our love has only deepened” over the years.
“Eric and I learn a lot from each other,” Simpson said. “I feel we are stronger now than ever before, [more] even more so than we were in the beginning.”
He called Johnson “a very good father and a good man.”
“I’m just feeling it [Eric and I are] somehow it always sinks into something deeper and better.”
