Morgan Chesky is ready to start his fatherhood journey!
NBC News reporter and wife Olivia Jane Steele welcomed their first daughter, Eleanor Mae, on Tuesday.
Chesky, 37, shared the news on Instagram Wednesday, with a handful of sweet photos from the delivery room and some information about the newest member of his family.
“It’s safe to say we’re in love with Lil Eleanor Mae Chesky, who made her big 7 pound 13 ounce debut Tuesday afternoon,” Chesky began.
“With her mother’s eyes and her father’s appetite, Ellie is already off to a great start! Her grandmother calls her the cutest 6th generation Texan she’s ever seen. I tend to agree 😀.”
Chesky later revealed that he is “proud to be ‘Ellie’s Dad’ forever from this day forward,” and he’s now even adding that statement to his Instagram bio.
The pictures are as sweet as Chesky’s writing. The first features a new family photo of both parents lovingly caring for their newborn baby. Another shot shows a newborn with a small white bow on his head while sticking out his tongue at his parents. A final picture shows Olivia lovingly once again taking care of Eleanor at the hospital.
Chesky first announced that he and Conversation Couture CEO Steele are looking forward to it again in March.
“Deep down, even though I didn’t know how it would look, feel, or even be feasible, I always knew I would love to start a family of my own,” she wrote. “I am happy to say that in May 2023, I will do this in the presence of a woman whose passion for life and love knows no bounds.”
“Olivia and I are incredibly excited to welcome a little girl into the world and surround her with the same support and blessings that our families have been lucky enough to bestow upon us,” she added. “To family and friends who have already shared their excitement and encouragement, please know that we are lucky to have you all on this new adventure!”
He concluded by saying, “And now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a pile of ‘How to Be a Dad’ books to work on in the breaking news.”

Just last month, Chesky announced that he was in hospital recovering from high-altitude pulmonary edema—a disease that prevents oxygen from moving through your body—after a trip to Zion National Park.
The Emmy-winning actress wrote on the medical emergency on Instagram: “I’ve never shared a story like this before, so here it goes. It’s a weird feeling to get out of the ICU. Less than 24 hours after soaking up the sights in Zion National Park, I was oxygenating in the back of an ambulance with no idea what was wrong.”
“The adventure was meticulously planned,” she continued on her birthday trip. “Sunrise walk in Bryce Canyon, then Zion the next day with a legendary crew.”

As he explained, “The problem started when the fire hit hard after Bryce.”
“When my uncle got my bag, I let him have it and I finished the road too weak to celebrate,” she wrote. “Decisive to sleep again, I popped Tylenol. But when I woke up worse I gave up. At Urgent Care they tested my heart rate (blood oxygen saturation) after hearing my symptoms. Normal 95-100 percent. Mine was read 58. That’s when they called the ambulance.”
Ultimately, an “incredibly competent staff” at Cedar City Hospital helped him with this as “high-flow oxygen, blood thinners, and star care made it easy to get me back to a safe starting point.”
“I’m not home yet, but I hope to see you at a lower altitude soon. Cheers,” he concluded.
