This Barbie is an idiot.
Margot Robbie revealed that she soon tried to cast Israeli beauty queen Gal Gadot in her blockbuster movie because her “Barbie energy” was so strong, but the actress turned her down.
“Gal Gadot is unbelievably beautiful, but you don’t hate her for being this beautiful, because she’s so sincere and so enthusiastically kind that it’s almost silly,” the Australian actress told Vogue in a cover story published Wednesday.
“It’s like right before I got stupid,” Robbie added.
Gadot, who was selected as Miss Israel in 2004 and starred in films such as “Wonderful Woman” and the “Fast and the Furious” series, was not available to shoot “Barbie” directed by Greta Gerwig. She was probably busy filming other projects, including Gerwig’s upcoming movie “Snow White”.
While Robbie plays the title role in the movie, there are several other iterations of the notorious doll in this universe.

The actors who will bring the Mattel icon to life include Issa Rae, Hari Nef, Emma Mackey, Dua Lipa, Sharon Rooney, Ana Cruz Kayne, Alexandra Shipp and Kate McKinnon, while Ryan Gosling plays the role of Ken opposite Robbie.
Elsewhere in the interview, the “Suicide Squad” star admitted that she didn’t even know if she had a Barbie doll growing up.
“I don’t think I did,” he said.
“I know my cousin has a lot of Barbies and I would go to her house.”
Posing in a flower-covered satin Versace dress on the cover of the magazine, the Oscar nominee both produced and starred in the film, securing the film rights to her company, LuckyChap.
“I never wanted to play Barbie, never dreamed of being a Barbie or anything like that,” she said.
“This will sound silly, but I didn’t really think about playing Barbie until years after developing the project.”
When it came to her character’s outfits, which ranged from a pretty blonde, tight-fitting neon skate suit to a pink cowgirl set, she said the doll “should never be sexy.”
“Okay, he’s like a doll. It’s a plastic doll. They don’t have organs. If they don’t have organs, they don’t have reproductive organs,” Robbie explained.
He went on to note that Barbie probably “will not feel sexual desire.”
“It was sexualized. But it should never to be sexy. People can project sex on her,” the “Babylon” star continued.
“Yes, she can wear short skirts, but because it’s fun and pink. Not because he wants you to see his ass.
“Barbie” hits theaters on July 21.
