Lily-Rose Depp shows her support for her father after back-to-back premieres at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
Speaking to ET from the south of France on Tuesday, the actress shared her feelings about Johnny Depp’s welcome on the opening night of the festival, which featured his biographical drama on May 16. Jeanne du Barry standing ovation.
“I’m so happy for him. I’m so excited,” 23-year-old Lily-Rose said in a virtual interview. “And it’s so great that we’re involved in projects we’re proud of.”
The 59-year-old celebrity arrived at the prestigious film festival a year after the public defamation lawsuit involving his ex-wife Amber Heard.
A source who recently evaluated the veteran actor’s morale recently told PEOPLE that Johnny is currently “performing wonderfully.”
“He really enjoys working and traveling again. He’s managed to change his life,” said Depp’s source, who will next direct the film. modi after touring with his band The Hollywood Vampires. “He prioritizes his health and work.”
“He was living a devastating life and his relatives were worried. Everyone is excited that he turned things around. He is much happier too,” the source said.
As for Lily-Rose, the Chanel model is making her own waves in Cannes after the HBO series debut on Monday. Idol, Starring Abel Tesfaye (also known as The Weeknd) and directed by Sam Levinson.

When she watched it for the first time with the audience, Lily-Rose said the feeling was “incredible,” adding: “It felt like such a beautiful celebration and a result of everything we’ve been through together, and a kind of beautiful process that was on the show – and creating this little family together and it was really, really cool.” it felt good.”

“It was the first time I watched it with an audience other than myself, Sam, Ashley, and Abel, which is how I watched the first few episodes,” Lily-Rose said. “But it was incredible. It felt like such a beautiful celebration and the result of everything we’ve been through together, and it’s a beautiful process that’s been on the show and creating this little family together, and it just felt really beautiful.”
The actress said, “We’re especially happy to celebrate together and for the reaction from the room. It felt really good to watch the reaction and all and finally share something with the world that we’re all in. I’m so proud.”
