Samuel L. Jackson recounts that he and his wife, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, once had different versions of their engagement story.
“My story is that one day when I got home (LaTanya) had already printed these invitations and handed me a deck and said ‘Be here’.” Jackson, 74, announced the beginning of his 42-year marriage. The Jennifer Hudson Show.
He added his wife’s reaction to the story and then how his wife corrected him: “‘No, that didn’t happen,” he said.
“I actually had to go and talk to his grandfather because his grandfather told him he wanted to walk down the aisle before he died,” Jackson said. “So I went and asked him for his hand or something.”
“That’s probably what happened, because I was on drugs and probably didn’t know what was going on at the time.” pulp Fiction star. “So, he’s probably right!”

Despite this, Jackson, who has been open about his addictions in the past, joked that he liked his version more because “it sounded so fun”.

Elsewhere in the show, Jackson recalled his “big” wedding with LaTanya, which featured 23 bridesmaids who also acted as actresses.
Due to its large scale, the actress likened the ceremony to a “production” and said, “(LaTanya) had 23 friends who were dancers and singers and people performed – it was a production! It was the bomb!”
“We were examined in the theater department. Atlanta Magazine Constitution. Best show in town that night – we killed it! Yes, it was a BIG wedding.”

The Jacksons have been married since 1980 and share a 41-year-old daughter named Zoe. The couple is working together professionally as well as in successful marriage. In 2022, La Tanya directed her husband in August Wilson’s Broadway remake. Piano Lesson.
While promoting the show ahead of its September 19 Broadway broadcast, LaTanya talked about working so closely with her husband and even how to give her some notes about her performance at dinner.

“Then at dinner, we discuss what’s going on during the day, of course, because sometimes I think it’s easier to make suggestions about what can be removed at that time. And maybe we want to look at it from a different angle. This is an easier time to do that because it’s usually the time we spend together. This.”
“But what do you think?” then he asked Samuel, who just nodded in agreement. Added LaTanya: “Good answer.”
