Alec Baldwin was glamorous on the red carpet at the 2023 PEN America Spring Literary Gala on Thursday night, but inside was a different story.
A spy tells Page Six specifically that the player scolded a female host, leaving him “shocked”.
The spy claims that the drama began when Baldwin, 65, stood up to chat with someone a few minutes before “the server’s turn suddenly came to deliver the food.”
A female host “probably in her late 20s or early 30s” stayed behind the actress as she stood and spoke.
“Then he started putting plates on the table when he could get through,” says an insider. “I guess he didn’t like it when he was standing there.”
The next moment, the “Saturday Night Live” actor allegedly started “chasing her”.
After the alleged incident, the visibly upset host was heard saying “I don’t know why you were yelling at me” to someone at the event.

“I think he thought it was rude of him to start putting down the plates while he was standing there,” an insider says, noting that Alec’s wife, Hilaria Baldwin, had not exchanged ice.
“It happened fast,” the source adds. “I think it mostly goes unnoticed.”
Player and event representatives did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Earlier in the night, the ’30 Rock’ graduate put on a loving display with 39-year-old Hilaria for her first red carpet appearance since the ‘Rust’ shooting charges were dropped last month.
At the event held at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, the couple embraced each other warmly as they posed for photographers.
The star-studded gala was hosted by Colin Jost and honored “SNL” master Lorne Michaels. The surprise guest was Salman Rushdie.
This was also Rushdie’s first face-to-face appearance at a public event. He was brutally attacked while on stage at a literary festival in New York in August 2022, losing an eye in the process.
“It’s good to be back – rather than not coming back, which was also a possibility. After a standing ovation, the 75-year-old novelist told the crowd: I’m glad the dice were rolled this way.
