This top could not be tamed.
Miley Cyrus has appeared on the cover of the June issue of British Vogue and recounted her most memorable fashion moments during her nearly two decades of career.
A recent memory was that on December 31, 2001, the Christmas wardrobe malfunctioned, the metal mesh top suddenly snapped and almost fell off.
“I still wear most of the clothes I wore on stage,” she joked, in the middle of her “Party in the USA” performance and as she took a quick change of clothes to cover it up.
“Acna, I’m not going to call you out because there’s been incredible pressure on your girlfriend in the end,” Cyrus said directly to the brand behind the appearance in the Youtube video.
“This outfit didn’t stay on for very long because the chain on the back broke,” Miley said of her blouse that was barely there.
“But what is a live TV performance where everything goes well? Live TV is walking a tightrope. They want to see it swing, but they don’t want to see it fall,” continued the “Flowers” singer.
Cyrus also said the special was billed as a “crazy” and unpredictable night between him and Pete Davidson, but joked that it was “pretty classy” compared to the “Saturday Night Live” alum.
However, he was delighted that the misfortune “rapidly raised” the ratings.
Luckily, the 30-year-old former Disney Channel star said her godmother Dolly Parton offered witty advice: “Show your boobs and get eaten.”
And indeed, that statement proved true, as “Miley’s New Year’s Eve” was re-selected to play in 2023, this time with Parton’s matching leopard skins.
