Jonathan Majors’ lawyer said the charges brought against the actor constituted a “witch hunt” after he appeared in court.
On Tuesday morning, Majors, 33, appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court in New York City for a brief hearing following his arrest and trial on March 25, at which point he was charged with multiple misdemeanors of assault and harassment.

“Still, this false case continues, the woman’s alleged location changes, and her story changes,” Chaudhry said in a statement. “This is a baseless witch hunt against Jonathan Majors. Instead of denying the allegations in the face of the woman’s outright lies, the prosecutor adjusted the charges to match the woman’s new lies.”
Chaudhry said Tuesday that no new charges have been filed against Majors at this time. The lawyer also said that his team has “obtained more video evidence of her innocence, but we are reluctant to share it because we fear the prosecutor will tip the woman to change her story again.”

Chaudhry also claimed that police officers who responded to the initial March 25 911 call prior to Majors’ arrest “taunt” the actor as he tried to show officers their own injuries from the incident.
“This glaring double standard between the treatment of Jonathan Majors, a 200-pound Black man, and his accuser, highlights the racial prejudice that permeates the criminal justice system,” the attorney added.

Major charges can lead to a maximum of 12 months in prison or three years’ probation if found guilty, according to Deadline.
