After eight years of hit songs, musical reenactments, and a million truth-or-dare episodes with the Kardashians, Late Late Show with James Corden saying goodbye.
Despite its viral success, especially for the Emmy-winning Carpool Karaoke segment, not many people fully mourn the end of the late night show. Rumors that British boy band One Direction will be reuniting for tonight’s final episode have made an otherwise bleak event a reason to celebrate.
It goes without saying that Corden isn’t a particularly popular person, at least on social media (despite YouTube). Late Late Showplays and sketches are still outstanding). He made the show in 2015 from the funnier British persona Craig Ferguson (sorry!) the grunting animatronic known as Jimmy Fallon).
Anyone who’s watched Corden do an opening monologue or gawk at a celebrity will tell you that the BAFTA-winning actor is often very animated and not particularly quick, witty, or skilled at giving interviews. Initially, much of the controversy surrounding his hiring for the job – in addition to the fact that it was another white man taking part from a woman and/or a black person late at night – was the lack of stand-up credentials. Since then, he’s also been ostracized for being an alleged scumbag in real life.
As a presenter, her theater-boy seriousness and willingness to do just about anything with famous people — funny or not — has sometimes strayed into awkward territory, like that infamous crosswalk musical with its cast. Cinderella (2021). However, on rare occasions, Late Late Show As a comedian, he overcame Corden’s shortcomings. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the series’ best moments from the past eight years.
George Clooney and Julia Roberts sing “Hollaback Girl”
Watching George Clooney and Julia Roberts has the lyrics of Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl” better than any of the flop romantic comedies of 2022 Ticket to Heaven. While promoting the thriller that sunk into oblivion in 2016 Money Monster, the two movie stars crashed Stefani’s Carpool Karaoke to perform along with the 2004 hit Queen’s “We Are the Champions.” It was the Gen-X crossover we never knew we needed, and the clip is even more satisfying considering Roberts is a real Stefani Soldier.
Dave Grohl clearly hates Corden’s stupid game
Sometimes, Corden’s impulsive behavior incredibly inspired some of the best moments of the series, such as when Dave Grohl was forced to participate in a strange game with Hilary Duff called “James That Tune.” Grohl and Duff were tasked with naming the tune Corden “plays” on the keyboard; in this case, they were Foo Fighters classics. Twisting? Corden doesn’t actually know how to play the keyboard! The game goes on for a silly and awkward time. But watching a disgruntled Grohl known to hate the Carpool Karaoke experience is hysterical to watch Corden disrespect his life’s work.
Hell’s Cafeteria, aka the “dumb sandwich”
Corden and Late Late Show The staff loved to recreate the most iconic moments of celebrities in lazily written sketches. “Will Gordon Ramsay be on the show? Let’s have him yell at Corden as if it’s obvious. Hell’s Kitchen!” However, this otherwise C+ segment instantly gave the internet its iconic image of Ramsay holding Julie Chen Moonves’ face between two slices of bread, causing her to call herself a “dumb sandwich.”
Katie Couric’s fake fall
If you even watched an episode Late Late ShowYou know Corden’s guests enter the studio smiling for the camera as they descend one flight of stairs. And high-fiving the audience before they are allowed to sit. Katie Couric reminded us of this potential danger by having a corpse fall dramatically down the stairs. The best part of the joke is that viewers seem to suspect it’s fake based on the lack of response. But Corden, who has been running wild, is clearly afraid of a lawsuit and perhaps even an annulment.
Adele raps to Nicki Minaj’s ‘The Beast’ line
Nicki Minaj’s contribution to Kanye West’s “Monster” – the only part of the song anyone cares about – was murdered by being rapped and sung by famous (and not-so-famous) white people, including Millie Bobby Brown and Allison Williams. But it feels right that British superstar Adele has memorized these words. The rest of the Carpool Karaoke episode is equally funny and enjoyable.
Tom Cruise forces Corden to skydive
If Tom Cruise is going to use his evil powers for anything, that’s it. should Getting Corden to participate in one of his many death wishes.
Tom Cruise takes Corden on a journey. super weapon– sponsored jet ride
Again, this is the best use of Cruise’s vigilante tendencies.
Corden dressed as MC Skat Kat for Paula Abdul
Someone This Late Late Show‘s first viral clips were a remake of this “Opposite Attracts” music video, perhaps a preview of all the raw, nostalgic episodes to come. Still, who can deny that Paula Abdul blasts her distinctive moves and receives a rare nod for her musical contributions? I guess some younger viewers are discovering that Abdul is more than just “that woman.” american idol” after this episode aired.
Dodgeball with One Direction
It’s no secret that Corden is good friends with the guys at 1D. Late Late Show Views for some of the best interviews and sketches. Admittedly, despite Corden’s best efforts, “Burning Ball with One Direction” isn’t exactly laughably funny. Still, it gave Directioners like me the opportunity to see interaction outside of 1D’s sit-down talks and stage performances. And towards the end of their run, the group of tirelessly working boys who allegedly hated each other seemed like they were having a really good time.
Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner reconnect over a little bug
Anyone who’s read Harry Styles profile knows he’s a bit of a boring guy, and his recent relentless touring schedule has apparently made him an even more lifeless robot. However, during his one-week residency, Late Late Show In 2017, she managed to show a sillier, funnier side of herself, including when she had to interview her ex, Kendall Jenner. On paper, these two seem like a lazy couple, but during a “Pour Your Inner Guts or Fill Your Guts” game, they managed to uncover some surprising chemistry. Let’s say things went wrong.
