Melanie Lynskey misses Kate Winslet.
The “Yellowjackets” star reflected on her friendship with her “Heavenly Creatures” co-star in a new interview and shared that they lost touch with each other after Winslet rose to fame.
“Losing my connection with Kate was more heartbreaking than some breakups I went through,” Lynskey said on Thursday’s “Happy Sad Confused” podcast.
“It was very painful and it was like nothing had happened. He just became a huge, international movie star and didn’t have much time, and then all of a sudden he’d be in L.A. and he wouldn’t have time.
The “Two and a Half Men” graduate has admitted that people always “break up”, although he said it was particularly “painful” for him to lose the “Titanic” star as a friend.

Lynskey, 45, and Winslet, 47, starred in the Oscar-nominated 1994 psychological drama “Heavenly Creatures” when they were both teenagers.
The “Last of Us” star described their friendship as “more intense than some love affairs” in a 2012 Time interview, adding, “We developed such a bond that we couldn’t let go for long. We wrote letters to each other and talked on the phone all the time. We were in constant communication for a long time.”
But Lynskey revealed on Thursday’s podcast episode that he hasn’t seen the “Mare of Easttown” star since 2009, when they met at the “Away We Go” premiere.
Still, the “Candy” star considers Winslet “a great inspiration”.
“Kate Winslet is making movies and you are witnessing that talent and performances,” she said. “This is a once-in-a-generation actor.”
